Light and dark:  The spectrum of God

Duality thinking says that every thing has an opposite:  white and black, male and female, right and wrong, or good and evil. In this mindset, all things can be defined by the presence or absence of some quality—period. In unity consciousness, however, we understand that there is no duality, no differentiation at all. In fact, there is only one thing in existence, and that is God.

People struggle with the idea of God encompassing everything in existence. If everything is God, then what about all those things we want to judge as "wrong" or "evil?" We desperately want to believe that "evil" is not part of God, because if it isn't, then we can revile it. But if it IS part of God, what do we do with it? Can we still hate what is God? Can we hate part of God, but still love other parts? We can try, but we cannot fully know the love of God while hating part of what God is.

So, what is evil, anyway? What is darkness?

Everything is energy—Light. And Light is an electromagnetic spectrum of vibrations, some of which we see as colors. The parts we don't see range from the infrared to the ultraviolet and beyond. Some of the energy in this spectrum vibrates more slowly (has a "lower" vibration), while some energy vibrates more quickly (has a "higher" vibration). None of the energy in this spectrum is separate from the other, however. All electromagnetic energy is part of the same thing, and it is all conscious—it is all God.

When people use the words "Light" and "Dark," they are applying labels that describe the frequency of the energy. "Light" has a higher vibration, while "Dark" has a lower one. The terms "higher" and "lower" are also labels that imply that one is inherently better than the other, but this is like declaring that your hands are better than your feet because they are further from the ground.

A better way to think of Light and Dark is to use new words. How about Remembering and Forgetfulness? Or Joy and Unhappiness? I AM versus I AM NOT?

Darkness is not "further" from God, because it is God. However, the lower the vibration, the less conscious it is of its own divinity. This is a state of forgetting, of not knowing what it really is. Darkness believes in limitation, in what it is not. In this consciousness, darkness has forgotten its connection with itself—with God—and miscreates from a state of ignorance. We call these miscreations "evil."

Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
—Luke 23:34

Healing involves increasing our vibration—moving toward the "Light" and back to a frequency where we can remember who we are and recognize our own divinity. As we do this, we rediscover our Joy, and we create from a place of understanding and knowing. In this consciousness, we are capable of creating "good" because we recognize that God—Love—is all there is. Eventually, we can drop our judgments, projections, and expectations and accept what is. We can accept that all of creation is perfect now, because all of creation is God, and us.

When we choose the healing path, we will find the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which we are not barred from. Its fruit is always available and is ours for the taking; we chose to forget its wisdom for the sheer joy of rediscovering it again. Paradoxically, this remembering erases the dualistic lines between Good and Evil, and we know at last that there is no separation at all.
